Modern Life is rubbish

Rant mode on !!
Things that make my blood boil

1) Why is it that when my mobile(cell) phone is running out of power it starts buzzing and vibrating to tell me? Thus draining what little power it has left. If it's going to die I'd prefer it did it quietly without the death rattles.

2) Still with the mobiles. Why is it people can't walk in a straight line when using them ? Number of people who meander across the pavement talking or checking their email. You're walking to work for crying out loud - wait two minutes and check your work emails at work. Sheesh !

3) Middle aged cyclists in Lycra/spandex - enough said

4) Draggy bags. I can understand the benefit of having a large suitcase on wheels with a handle but when the bag been dragged along isn't big enough to fit a Chihuahua you have to wonder why ?

Yeah I know I'm sounding like a grumpy old man, but "I'm mad as hell and can't take it anymore"

Kindle

After much deliberation  and as an early Christmas present I bought myself an  Amazon Kindle . Having lived with it for a couple of weeks now, I can categorically state that I love it !!!  Yes the Pearl E-Ink display is very easy to read, clear and sharp, the machine is light and pocketsized,  the page refresh is relatively quick, but the thing that makes it a wonder for me is the sheer amount of books you can get on it. The idea of carrying around my entire library appeals to me much in the same way that carrying around my entire CD collection on a mp3 player does.  I rarely leave home without it, as a result the numbers of books I'm getting through has doubled.

Garrus

A quick one of Garrus Vakarian, the baddest Telurian in Omega ;)  from the  Mass Effect universe.
.  I only came to the Mass Effect series of games earlier this year. ME2  has quickly become one of my all time faourites, the characters, story, effects and humour all add up to a totally immersive, cinematic experience.  I've played it through 5 times now each with a different class and gender of main character. I've lost my entire team and kept my entire team through the final suicide mission, romanced several of the crew and made decisions that will I've no doubt come back and haunt me in ME3

Event Horizon.

Renders  of the newly released Event Horizon model by Rustythe1 (available from 3D Rabbit hole ) Trying to emulate the colours and feel of  a dimly remembered poster or video cover.

I actually really enjoy Event Horizon. It's a smart(ish), suspense filled little shocker. The idea is cool and the design of the craft and sets really add to the gothic feel. One of Paul W.S. Anderson's better efforts before he slipped to the likes of Resident Evil and the risible Death Race.
